- Two hundred grams of Oreos
- One hundred grams of soft cheese spread
- An equivalent of two hundred grams of white cocoa bars
- A single tablespoonful of vanilla flavoring
Instructions
Step 1
To start making our easy peasy Oreo truffles, you'll need to get your Oreos ready. First, take all the Oreos out of their packaging and place them in a food bag - it's a good idea to use a sturdy one or even double bag them to prevent any breaks. Next, grab your trusty rolling pin and give those Oreos a good bash until they're crushed into fine crumbs - you're aiming for a uniform texture here, so keep rolling until you don't see any big chunks left. Alternatively, if you have a food processor, you can use that to speed up the process and get your Oreo crumbs in no time.
Step 2
Now it's time to prepare the cream cheese mixture for our Oreo truffles. Start by placing the cream cheese in a large bowl - make sure it's at room temperature, as this will help it mix more smoothly. Next, add a splash of vanilla extract to the bowl - about 1/2 teaspoon should do the trick. Mix the cream cheese and vanilla extract together until they're well combined and you notice the cream cheese has a slightly sweeter flavor, which should take about 2-3 minutes with an electric mixer or a bit longer with a whisk.
Step 3
Now it's time to bring the Oreos into the mix. In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese and vanilla mixture you've already prepared, and start adding the bashed Oreos to it. You'll want to mix everything together until the Oreos are fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth, which might take a bit of elbow grease - especially as you add more Oreos and the mixture thickens up. As you mix, keep an eye on the consistency, and don't worry if you can't use every last bit of the Oreos, especially if they have a lot of filling and are making the mixture too thick.
Step 4
Now it's time to shape our Oreo mixture into adorable truffles. To do this, scoop out a small amount, about a teaspoon, and gently roll it between your palms to form a ball. You'll want to aim for a size that's small enough to pop into your mouth in one bite - we're talking about 1-1.5 inches in diameter. As you roll each truffle, place it onto a sheet of baking parchment, leaving a little space between each one to prevent them from sticking together.
Step 5
Now that your Oreo mixture is set, it's time to let it chill. You'll want to give it at least an hour to cool down, which will help it firm up and become less sticky. As you wait, you can prepare your workspace for the next step by laying out a piece of parchment paper or a silicone mat. Once your Oreo mixture has cooled, you'll notice it's become slightly harder to the touch and easier to handle, which is perfect for dipping in chocolate.
Step 6
Now it's time to get your chocolate ready for coating. To do this, grab a large bowl and place your chocolate of choice in it - the bigger bowl will give you plenty of room to maneuver your truffles later. You'll want to melt the chocolate over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a smooth and creamy consistency - this should take about 5 minutes, or until you can easily drizzle it off a spoon. As you melt the chocolate, keep an eye on your truffles, and get ready to coat them as soon as they're ready to come out of the fridge.
Step 7
Now it's time to give your Oreo truffles a luxurious chocolate coating. To do this, grab two forks and gently place a truffle on one of them. Next, dip the fork into the melted chocolate, making sure the truffle is fully submerged - you want it to be completely covered in a thick layer of chocolate. As you lift the truffle out of the chocolate, use the second fork to gently nudge it and remove any excess chocolate, allowing it to drip back into the bowl. Once you've removed the excess, carefully place the coated truffle onto a piece of paper or a parchment-lined surface. At this point, you can get creative - if you like, sprinkle some crushed Oreos on top of the truffle for a fun textural element, or wait until the chocolate has set and then use a contrasting color of chocolate to add some decorative lines or patterns.
Step 8
Now that your longer Oreo truffles have chilled, you'll find that dipping them in chocolate is a whole lot easier. To start, make sure your truffles are firm to the touch - this will help them hold their shape while you're coating them. If you've made smaller truffles, you can use a fondue dipping stick to coat them in chocolate, which can be a bit more manageable, especially if you're new to working with melted chocolate. As you dip each truffle, you'll want to fully coat it in the chocolate, then gently tap off any excess by tapping the stick against the side of the bowl, until the truffle is evenly coated and no longer dripping with chocolate.
Step 9
Now that your Oreo truffles are shaped and ready to go, it's time to let them set. You'll want to place them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden completely. As you wait, you can start to get excited - your truffles are almost ready to devour. Once the 30 minutes are up, you can remove them from the fridge and enjoy your delicious creations, with their smooth chocolate exterior and creamy Oreo center.

My Tip
When mixing the Oreo crumbs with cream cheese, be gentle to avoid a dense mixture. Stop mixing once they're just combined.
Leftovers
Store your Oreo truffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. To reheat, gently melt in the microwave or at room temperature.
Make It Your Own
Try swapping the white chocolate for dark chocolate for a deeper flavor. This adds a nice contrast to the sweetness of the Oreos.
